ARTS 292: Special Topic in Photography: Rephotography: Appropriating the Established Image (4). Prerequisite: ARTS 120. This course serves an introduction to both large format photographic equipment and “re-photography,” which refers to recreating or reimagining previously created photographs. We study contemporary rephotographic series and apply the concepts learned to produce new imagery, based upon both historic and contemporary photographs of Rockbridge County. Students also learn the principles and operations of the 4x5 field camera, in addition to gaining a command of large-format film loading, development and printing. (HA) Gortemiller. Spring 2012
