LAW 523 - Legal Writing I Credits: 2 Prerequisites: 1L class standing. Description: Legal Writing I introduces students to the fundamentals of legal reasoning, analysis, and predictive writing. It focuses on the process of writing legal office memoranda, beginning with writing and rewriting segments of a memo that will predict the likely outcome of a legal issue for a client based on provided case law. A second memo incorporates research into the process, in coordination with the Legal Research course. Students receive substantial individualized feedback throughout the semester.
