This course will consider the historical and cultural conditions for the development of law in Latin America. It will focus on the civil law tradition, codification and civil law sources, constitutionalism, including remedies and judicial review and will also look at the legal and judicial systems, including civil and criminal procedure and the tax systems in Brazil, Mexico and Argentina.
