Theater at Washington and Lee helps students increase their confidence, develop strong communication skills, learn how to collaborate effectively, and practice creative problem-solving. Students of the theater program also become part of a strong community of artists, able to lead and to listen. Our graduates credit these skills as key to their success in medicine, law, business, and management, as well as in the performing arts. Classes focus on learning by doing, whether in research, writing, or the various aspects of production, including performance and design. In addition to a broad range of practical skills, students also learn skills that can be applied to the departmental productions that are staged each year. Participation in these productions is open to any Washington and Lee student, regardless of major or class year.
