This study abroad course introduces students to the principles and practice of exploratory data analysis (EDA) through immersive, real-world applications in South Korea. Students will collect, visualize, and interpret datasets reflecting cultural, social, environmental, and economic patterns unique to the Korean context. Core topics include descriptive statistics, data visualization, simulation techniques, and introductory statistical modeling. Alongside hands-on statistical work, students will engage in cultural excursions, site visits, and language study to deepen their understanding of how context shapes data collection and interpretation. This course is especially appropriate for math majors, data science minors, or students considering a data-intensive path. Prior programming experience is helpful but not required.
Note(s): Students who have taken MATH/MUS 260 are not eligible.
