INTR 119 - Perspectives on a Pandemic: An Interdisciplinary Approach

Credits: 2 This course will offer students a critical, interdisciplinary approach to understanding the COVID-19 pandemic. Through a series of guest lectures and discussion sections, Washington and Lee faculty, alumni and experts from the field will provide students with a number of different perspectives on the pandemic that has gripped the world. This course will empower students and members of the W&L community to separate fact from fiction, putting the COVID-19 crisis into perspective. Faculty and experts from a broad list of disciplines will analyze issues related to the pandemic from different perspectives including: epidemiology, biology, psychology, sociology, economics, business, politics, and law. The final project for the course will require students to share a new-found perspective or lesson from class with the W&L community via digital storytelling. There are no prerequisites for this class and no assumption of prior knowledge relating to any of the topics covered. Experiential Learning (EXP): Y D. Hess, M. Brock
