HIST 206 - Gender & Sexuality in Modern Europe

Credits: 3 This course investigates the history of Europe from the late 18th century to the present day through the lens of women’s lives, gender roles, and changing notions of sexuality. We examine how historical events and movements (industrialization, the world wars, etc.) had an impact on women, we look at how ideas about gender shaped historical phenomena, such as imperialism and totalitarianism. We also consider the rise of new ideas about sexuality and the challenge of feminism. FDR: HU Horowitz.
