LAW 330 - International Trade Law. This course is an introduction to the institutional and substantive aspects of the law of international trade with particular focus on the WTO/GATT system. The course covers rules of origin, tariffs and customs law, quantitative restrictions, non-discrimination provisions, trade defense mechanisms and the dispute settlement system. It also deals with some of the controversies concerning the future evolution of the WTO and its role in the process of globalization. We will try to emphasize the political, economic and social context of these rules, in order to understand them better and suggest an “international lawyer” approach to these legal topics. One hour. Not offered in 2014-2015.
