LAW 309 - Health Law Organization and Finance. This course addresses the organization and finance of the health care industry in the United States. It examines the problems of access to health care and control of health care costs, including consideration of state and federal managed care regulation, the effect of ERISA on health insurance, the Medicare and Medicaid programs, and the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act. It will also consider issues presented by the organization of the health care enterprise, including medical staff privileging, labor and employment problems, fraud and abuse, antitrust, and structuring relationships among providers.
