Education Studies (EDUC)

Education Studies offers students the opportunity to work toward a teaching credential (specifically a Virginia teaching license) in elementary, middle, or secondary education. Licensure can be earned in the following endorsement areas:

Elementary Education:

Pre-Kindergarten-to-6

Middle Education:

English; History and Social Sciences; Mathematics; Science

Secondary Education:

Biology; Chemistry; Chinese; Computer Science; Earth Science; English; French; German; History and Social Sciences; Instrumental and Vocal Music; Journalism; Latin; Mathematics; Physics; Spanish; Theater; Visual Arts

The requirements for each endorsement area are listed on the education studies website. EDUC 200 - Foundations of Education  is open to all students. Upper-level education courses are also open to all students who wish to teach in public or private schools or who have an interest in education but do not wish to earn licensure. Instructor consent is required for upper-level courses for students who have not completed EDUC 200 - Foundations of Education.
