Music major leading to BA degree

Return to: Music (MUS)
A major in music leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree requires at least 39 credits as follows:
- MUS 120, 121, 161, 162, 201, 202, 260, 395, 473 or 493 (thesis), and completion of one of the following sequences:
- History: three courses chosen from MUS 220, 221, 231, 232, 295, and 296; or FILM 285
- Theory-Composition: MUS 361, 362, and 423
- Performance: three credits chosen from applied music courses at the 300-level or above; and six credits chosen from MUS 220, 221, 231, 232, 295, 296, 361, 362, and 423
- Enrollment in ensemble courses (108-115) is required every fall and winter term after declaring the music major
- Demonstrated piano proficiency by the end of the junior year
- Concert attendance as required by the department.

And completion of one of the following sequences:
a. History:
