BUS 180: FS: International Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability (4). First-Year seminar. Prerequisite: First-Year standing. ACCT 201 (offered in winter term) is recommended. This seminar uses corporate strategy to explore the interplay between individual citizens, government, and business as agents for social change. Cross-cultural variation in the relative role of each in addressing such change is considered, as students spend time in both the U.S. and Copenhagen, Denmark. Site visits introduce “live” case studies that examine the contrast between CSR perspectives in the two countries. Students are introduced to the concept of “the triple bottom line” and consider the responsibility of business, as well as that of government and other organizations, in each of the three areas (people, planet, profit). Straughan and Oliver.
