This course prepares you for the spring term abroad experience using the relevant materials in both economics and culture for meetings and group discussions. The readings and other media will help you to synthesize an understanding of culture, history, economics, and policies of two contrasting European countries, France and the U.K., to gain insight into the opportunities and challenges related to economic, political, and cultural integration in the EU. The assigned readings and other media explain economic theories and other ideas to analyze the impact of macroeconomic policies on economic activity, examine cultural and institutional differences in the countries under study, and explore EU structure. The written assignments develop your written communication skills as well as intercultural competencies.
