SOAN 1629 - Preparing for Good: Foundations for Spring Term in Ghana Crosslisted With BUS 1629 Prerequisite: Instructor consent. Credits: 1
This 1cr winter-term seminar prepares students for the spring abroad course, Tech for Good: Trust, Technology, and Development in Ghana. Students engage weekly with key theories of trust, institutions, and technology—building a foundation for analyzing social cooperation in postcolonial contexts. Readings are global in scope but provide essential context for understanding Ghana’s development landscape. The course also covers cultural and logistical preparation for travel. Requirements include participation, preparedness checklists, and a final essay on core theoretical frameworks. Open only to students enrolled in the spring term course.
