BUS 3835 - Arts Management


Credits: 3

This course introduces students to arts management principles, including organizational operations, mission-driven programming, and business strategies in the creative economy. It explores emerging trends, policies, and adaptive leadership in the evolving arts and cultural sectors. Students will examine the creative economy, covering contracts, work-life dynamics, and key trends in the arts and entertainment industries shaped by globalization and digitization. The course also explores major business models—commercial, nonprofit, and hybrid—and legal considerations such as contracts, negotiations, and intellectual property. Additionally, students will learn strategies for managing a portfolio career and developing enterprise models for artist-entrepreneurs.

Note(s): Students may not earn credit for both BUS 3835 and THTR 2835 .
