Prerequisite: FILM 2707  or instructor consent
FDR: Fine Arts (HA)
Credits: 4

Write, Direct, and Shoot: Narrative Filmmaking is a hybrid wiring, directing, and production course that guides students through completing a 10-15 narrative film. In the first section of the course, students will write scripts for short fiction films and take two workshops on pre-production and directing. Students will complete pre-production, including casting, during the following weeks and begin filming. In the final third of the course, students will wrap up filming and move into the editing and post-production phase. The classwork will include visual and writing exercises, DSLR cinematography, script work, rehearsal, and film production. Student will work together in groups of 3-4 on shared class theme, narrative premise, or genre. The course is truly intensive and requires a significant amount of work outside of class and daily deadlines for submission of creative work.
