LAW 628 - Constitutional Civil Rights Seminar

Description: This seminar examines a wide range of civil rights issues under the Fourth, Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution. Subjects have included equal protection and desegregation; statutes of limitations and reparations; due process and access to justice, judicial power and national injunctions; children’s constitutional rights and climate justice; AI, bias and privacy rights; the constitutionality of the death penalty; police misconduct and qualified immunity; and theories of equality. Under the guidance of the professor, students will each write a paper on a constitutional civil rights issue of their choosing and will present their work at the end of the semester. Students will also read and critique each other’s work as part of the revision process.
