EEG 246 - Sedimentary Rocks and Processes

Credits: 4

Prerequisite: Prerequisite or Corequisite: EEG 100, EEG 101, EEG 102, EEG 103, EEG 105, EEG 107, or EEG 200. The rich history of the world we inhabit is recorded in sedimentary rocks. In this course we will develop the skills needed to unlock the rocks and interpret Earths past. This course serves as an introduction to the identification, analysis, and interpretation of sedimentary rocks, and how we use this information to reconstruct climatic, environmental, sea level, and surface process changes in geologic time. We will explore sedimentary rocks from the micro to outcrop scale, with an emphasis on projects, writing, and oral communication in this field and lab-based course
