May be repeated for degree credit if the genre is different. Prerequisite: 3 French courses numbered between 200 and 299. This course gives students a general knowledge of the evolution of French literature and ideas over the centuries through the study of a single genre, its styles and techniques. Recent offerings include: L’Essai de Montaigne Camus; Ecriture feminine/Ecriture féministe? L’amour dans la poésie lyrique; Le conte et la nouvelle.
