LAW 704 - Financial Regulation in the U.S.

Description: This three-credit course will provide an introduction to the U.S. financial system and how it is regulated. The course will begin by introducing the products, services, and activities that make up the financial system. It will then track the evolution of financial regulation in the U.S. and provide a comparative look at how various players in the financial system are regulated, including depository institutions, insurers, securities firms, and asset managers. It will conclude with a more in-depth look at the relatively comprehensive approach to regulating depository institutions, which begins at the moment of their creation, ends with their liquidation, and covers nearly everything in between
