LAW 224P - Business Immigration Law Practicum.


Students will provide the full range of legal services in this simulation of a business immigration practice. They will conduct client intakes and evaluations; prepare submissions to the Departments of Homeland Security, State and Labor to obtain nonimmigrant work visas and employment-based permanent resident status; and respond to agency requests and audits. They will also advise, among others, human resources professionals on immigration-related hiring practices and requirements; corporate counsel on immigration-related due diligence on transactions; and foreign nationals on their ability to oversee and transfer employees to their U.S. business investments. The course will include readings and lectures on applicable substantive law. Student will be graded on their work product as business immigration lawyers. Three hours. Izakowitz  Prerequisite: Immigration Law; requirement may be waived with professor’s permission.
