LAW 279P - Entertainment Law Practicum.


Students will experience the modern-day practice of entertainment law through simulations and real-world examples. The course will primarily focus on the representation of artists/musicians, concert promoters, major record labels, and sport figures. Students will: (1) undergo the process of creating business entities for their practice and their respective clients’ ventures; (2) evaluate best practices for time keeping and conflict checking; (3) understand the principles of remote/virtual interactions with both clients and other counsel, (4) gain a high-level understanding of immigration policies surrounding international clients and musicians who have dealings in the United States; (5) conduct a complex, simulated negotiation; (6) learn about complex modern-day issues experienced by accomplished industry attorneys; and (7) learn about the recent laws surrounding the Music Modernization Act.
