LAW 423 - Law, Science and Technology Seminar.

New technologies pervade society to a greater extent than ever before and permeate every aspect of our lives. Science and technology are becoming increasingly important components of regulation and litigation, yet they have different processes and standards from those that lawyers customarily use. In this seminar we will examine how the law resolves, or should resolve, the issues that arise at the cutting edge of technology and science. In particular, we will probe the interdisciplinary relationship between law and science; science in the courtroom; specialized judges and juries in complex technical cases; technology transfer; and the management of high technology, including trade secrets. Students will lead the class discussions. Each student will write and present a research paper analyzing an issue of interest. Two hours.Seymore
