FREN 332 - Études de genre FDR: HL Planned Offering: Winter Credits: 3
Prerequisite: Three courses at the 200 level. This course gives students a general knowledge of the evolution of French literature and ideas over the centuries through the study of a single genre, its styles and techniques. Recent offerings include: L’Essai de Montaigne Camus; Ecriture feminine/Ecriture féministe? L’amour dans la poésie lyrique; Le conte et la nouvelle. May be repeated for degree credit if the genre is different.
Fall 2016, FREN 332A-01: La Prose - Narcisse romancier (3). Prerequisites:Three French courses at the 200 level.This course will focus on 1st person narratives in 20th Century French novels by André Gide, Marcel Proust, Albert Camus, Romain Gary, Annie Ernaux, and Marie Darrieussecq. Students will give oral presentations in class and write an analysis of each text. The class will be conducted in French and the papers will be written in French. Considerable attention will be given to developing writing skills and analytical skills. (HL) Lambeth
