HIST 277 - Speaking and Being Zulu in South Africa

“Sanibonani, abangani bami!” (“Greetings, my friends!”) Want to learn more about an African language and culture? We spend the first two weeks intensively learning isiZulu, a language spoken by over 10 million people in South Africa. We also learn about the history of the Zulu people in southern Africa, covering topics from colonialism, racial discrimination, gender and sexuality, and music, and we enjoy Zulu music and film. “Masifunde ngamaZulu!” (“Let’s learn about the Zulus!”) Tallie. Planned Offering: Spring 2016 and alternate years.
