ARAB 162 - Second-Year Arabic II

Prerequisite: Grade of C or higher in ARAB 161. Students with credit in ARAB 164 may not receive subsequent credit in a lower numbered Arabic course. Students may not receive degree credit for both ARAB 162 and 164. This course continues the development of proficiency In the Arabic language through the skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The curriculum is designed to help students master and activate large amounts of vocabulary through active use of the root-and-pattern system, as well as provide opportunities for students to acquire and practice reading and listening strategies. Communicative skills remain the priority, and thus active, cooperative participation In group activities is an instrumental aspect of the course. By the end of the semester, students are expected to reach the Intermediate-High level of proficiency in the Arabic language. Students may only receive credit for ARAB 162 or ARAB 164, not both.
