ARAB 161 - Second-Year Arabic I Credits: 4
Prerequisite: Grade of C or higher in ARAB 112 or 151. This course is designed to develop proficiency in the Arabic language and culture through the skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Coursework focuses on helping students master and activate large amounts of vocabulary through active use of the root-and-pattern system, as well as develop reading strategies and listening skills. Communicative skills remain a priority; active, cooperative participation in group activities is expected.
