Fall 2015, ARTH 195-01: Introduction to African Art (3). This course examines the rich history of African art and architecture. It situates African cultural production within a socio-political framework, taking into consideration various issues, such as the method of production, the role of the artist, the function of the work within its environment, and the effects of intercontinental trade, colonialism, and globalization. In addition, the course addresses the related history of studying, collecting, and displaying African art. (HA) Staff.
