German Language major leading to BA degree


A major in German language leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree requires at least 36 credits as follows:

  1. GERM 262 (or at least three credits from GERM 263 or 264, an approved substitute in German language or a cognate field)
  2. GERM 311, 312, 332
  3. At least six credits from GERM 303, 304 or from other approved German courses
  4. GERM 347 or 349
  5. Six additional credits in literature chosen from the following: GERM 313, 314, 315, 316, 318, 320, 321 (if topic is literary)
  6. The remaining credits must be taken from a list of approved courses, available from the department, with no more than six credits in any one discipline
  7. Students must pass an oral and written proficiency examination conducted by the department before or during their last long term prior to graduation.
