Prerequisite: Junior or senior standing. Examines how this seemingly remote region became the inspiration for the first modern human rights campaign, the source of the uranium used to build the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, a hot spot in the Cold War, and the setting for a genocide that spilled over into an “African World War” fueled by intricate links between African resources and the global economy.
