PSYC 296 - Spring-Term Topics in Psychology

FDR: SS3
Credits: 4
Planned Offering: Spring

Topics and prerequisites vary with instructor and term.  May be repeated for degree credit with permission and if the topics are different.

Topic for Spring 2012:

PSYC 296-01: Spring-Term Topics in Psychology: The Psychology of Peak Performance (4). Prerequisite: Instructor consent. Psychology has traditionally focused on “fixing” people’s deficits. However, many psychological theories and concepts can be applied to helping people reach their highest level of achievement. In this class, we will draw on several domains of psychology (e.g., social cognitive, personality, positive psychology, etc.) to explore specific factors and strategies that both psychologists and individuals can use to achieve (or facilitate others in achieving) their highest potential. Students will learn key theories and develop tangible strategies for application of concepts, identify an area of their lives where they hope to attain or work toward peak performance, and develop a course-culminating individual action plan to help them achieve their performance objective. (SS3) Gregory. Spring 2012
