Prerequisite: GR 301 or instructor consent. Selected subject areas in Greek literature. The topic selected varies from year to year. May be repeated for degree credit with permission of instructor and if the topics are different.

Topic in Winter 2012:

GR 395:Topics in Advanced Greek Literature: Euripides (3). We read Euripides’ Medea in the original Greek, considering the play within the history of tragedy and tragic performance in Athens, as well as its relation to the social and political history of Athens. In addition to reading Medea, we also read several tragedies by Euripides in English translation. (HL) Crotty.
