SOC 180: FS: Challenges of Religious Pluralism (4). Prerequisite: First-year standing. First-year Seminar. This course utilizes three theoretical perspectives to explain relationships of religions to society, especially the state, and to elucidate challenges posed by religious pluralism. Does religious pluralism divide or unite Americans? Does it lead to greater social fragmentation or enhance social integration? We look specifically at several religions to help us answer these questions. (SS4). White.
